About

About New Orleans Rat Control

One focus: the rats and mice that get into New Orleans buildings, and the work that keeps them out.

Rodents only, on purpose

Most pest companies handle everything: roaches, termites, ants, mosquitoes, and rodents somewhere down the list. That breadth is useful, and it also means rodent work often gets treated as a couple of bait stations and a follow-up call.

This site exists for the other approach. Rats and mice, and nothing else. Rodent work is mostly about reading a building: identifying the species from droppings and damage, following the runways, finding every opening on a roofline or under a raised floor, and knowing which materials actually hold. That is a different skill from spraying a perimeter, and it is what the calls placed through this site are for.

What we actually know about New Orleans

The local detail matters more here than in most cities. A roof rat in Uptown got onto the roof from a live oak limb or a cable line, then through a soffit joint that opened up years ago. A Norway rat in Lakeview came out of a flooded drainage run after a storm and found the gap at the slab edge. A rat in a Quarter kitchen may have walked in through a shared wall from the building next door.

Those are three different jobs, and a generic plan handles none of them well. Every page on this site is written around the housing stock and conditions that actually drive the problem here: raised pier-and-beam construction, the oak canopy, the storm drain and catch basin network, Formosan termite damage in old wood, and winters too mild to ever thin the population.

How it works when you call

You call 504-395-3296 and describe what you are hearing and where. That alone narrows it a long way, because noise overhead after dark and noise under the floor point to different rats and different work.

An experienced local exterminator inspects the building, identifies the species, maps the entry points and explains what the job involves. You get the price before any work starts, with no obligation to go ahead. If the noise turns out to be squirrels or birds rather than rats, that is what you get told.

The work itself is done by a local technician. Trapping goes on the active runways, the openings get sealed with materials rats cannot chew, and contaminated material comes out of the attic or the pier space. Read the full sequence on how it works.

What we will not tell you

No invented star ratings, no made-up review counts, no history we cannot stand behind, and no promises about work performed by someone else. Trust on a site like this should come from being useful and specific, not from numbers nobody can check.

What you can rely on: the rodent detail on these pages is accurate for New Orleans, the pricing is given upfront before work starts, and the arrangement behind the phone number is set out plainly in the disclaimer and in the footer of every page.
