What to have ready

• Where the noise is. Ceiling, wall, under the floor, kitchen cabinets, garage or attic.
• When you hear it. Just after dark, through the night, or during the day. Daytime activity usually means a larger population.
• What you have seen. Droppings and roughly where, gnawed packaging, chewed wire, shredded insulation, or an actual sighting.
• The building. Raised on piers or slab on grade, one story or two, attic access, and whether it is a home or a business.
• How long it has run. A few nights is a very different job from several months.
